Resource / Reserve Management System

Studio

Studio is Datamine’s premier resource / reserve modeling and engineering solution. Its object oriented data model and support for distributed file systems allow mining professionals improved flexibility and greater control of data. Combined with the ability to view and format data independently in multiple views, Studio is the ideal environment for enhanced visualisation and verification of ore body models and mine designs. Studio 3 provides corporations with a secure governance framework through Enterprise level solutions. The incorporation of industry standard scripting tools provides a powerful scripting capability, allowing work flow procedures to be designed into solutions and repetitive tasks to be automated. Studio also includes an integrated virtual reality (VR) environment ideal for safety reviews, training, operational planning and general collaboration activities.

Block Modeling

Datamine’s block modelling is widely recognised as being the most flexible and sophisticated within the industry. Using often complex outlines or surfaces Studio has a unique method of splitting cells into sub-cells in the areas where local detail of structure or grade distribution is required. To ensure the closest fit with the actual structures, models may be produced on both orthogonal and rotated (in 3D) grid systems. In addition Studio contains a wide range of block model manipulation tools unrivalled by any other product.

Wireframing

Closely integrated with block modelling Studio 3 has a range of tools for modelling structure. These include a choice of linking algorithms and a set of new boolean functions which allow the merging and splitting of groups of wireframes. Once the structures have been modeled, Studio 3 can generate block models from wireframe models in a single pass.

Stereonet

Incorporate structural data into your geological models, pit designs and underground mine designs. Stereonet Viewer runs independently or integrated within Studio. Data can be selected in either the world or stereonet view and is automatically highlighted in the other view.

Geostatistics

Studio 3 offers a wide selection of geostatistical functions for interpolating grades into block models, including inverse distance, nearest neighbor and various kriging estimation methods and variogram model fitting. Computations include covariance and other parameters. The interactive variogram fitting process allows the user to display the experimental variograms, and to choose from a wide range of models and parameters; multiple nested structures and anisotropy are included. The models may be further refined statistically using cross validation techniques.

Unfolded Geostatistics

Folded orebodies present their own unique complications when it comes to statistics (both classical & geostatistics) and grade estimation. Traditional analysis uses straight line distances calculated from the East, North and Elevation coordinates of the data. In folded structures this is often wrong since you should use the true geological distances “down dip”, “along strike” and “across strike”. Studio’s UNFOLD lets you do this. Rather than picking an incorrect solution why not UNFOLD the orebody and get the correct answer?

Conditional Simulation

Conditional Simulation is used in the mining industry to quantify uncertainty in order to minimize risk. Whereas an estimator reproduces average properties, simulation reproduces variability. The potential errors in any estimate, both the upside and downside, are functions of the variability and are critical factors in the decision making process.

Mining Power Pack

Mining Power Pack, a plug in to Microsoft® Excel, is a selection of powerful but really easy to use tools for the geologist and engineer which optimize the presentation of large volumes of data. Use Mining Power Pack to quickly create mining specific tables and charts such as grade-tonnage curves to aid analysis, report generation and decision making.
